🏨 Why you shouldn’t use this 100% transfer bonus

This bank just dropped one of the rarer promos we ever see: a 100% transfer bonus from UR points to IHG One Rewards (through September 4).

100% transfer bonus to IHG

On the surface, this sounds insane. Transfer 100,000 UR points, get 200,000 IHG points. When do you ever see a straight-up 2x transfer bonus?

But here’s the catch: IHG is also running a sale right now where you can buy points with a 100% bonus. In other words, you can buy 200,000 points for $1,000.

So the ceiling on value here is about half a cent per point. Even with the transfer bonus, the most you’re really getting from your UR points is about one cent each.

But you can do way better by using them in other ways.

For example, just last week, we highlighted how you can book Virgin Atlantic Upper Class for 29,000 Virgin miles early next year. 👇

If you transferred 58,000 UR points to Virgin instead, you could book a round-trip Upper Class flight worth over $4,000 in cash fares. So close to half the points of the example transfer to IHG from earlier, but already 4x the value.

So while a 100% transfer bonus looks like a screaming deal, the real value depends on how you use your points.

The takeaway:

  • If you’re an IHG loyalist, don’t feel bad about jumping on this — it’s a nice way to bulk up your balance without spending cash.

  • But if you’re aiming for outsized redemptions, you’ll often squeeze way more than one cent per UR point by transferring elsewhere.

Moral of the story: know your options before you transfer. 🧠

✈️ Skip the lines, snag the perks: Frontier’s new status match

Frontier just launched one of the easiest (and cheapest) status matches we’ve ever seen — and it lasts through December 31, 2026.

Here’s the kicker: You don’t even need elite status to qualify. As long as you have a loyalty account with Southwest, JetBlue, Spirit, or Alaska, you can pay just $69 and instantly upgrade to Frontier Miles Elite Gold.

So what does Gold actually get you?

  • 🧳 Free carry-on bag (normally $60+ each way)

  • 💺 Free seat assignments at booking

  • 🚀 Priority boarding + priority customer service

  • ⬆️ Complimentary upgrades to UpFront Plus (when available)

The math is almost too easy: A single round-trip with a carry-on could save you more than the $69 application fee, and you’ll still have Gold status for well over a year.

For anyone even thinking about flying Frontier once or twice before 2026, this is a no-brainer.

😎 You pick Delta’s next European island route

Delta is running its first-ever Route Race next week: SkyMiles members can vote in the Delta app from August 25 to 29 to choose which Mediterranean island gets a new nonstop in summer 2026.

The three contenders are Ibiza (Spain), Malta, and Sardinia (Italy).

The winning route will be announced 30 days after voting closes and added to the 2026 schedule (Delta hasn’t revealed the U.S. gateway yet).

How to vote: Open the Delta app next week, head to the Explore or Trip pages, confirm your SkyMiles info, and tap your choice.

Fun context: No U.S. airline currently flies nonstop to any of these three islands — so whichever wins would be a true first… Plus, it’s just kinda fun, right? 😁

How to turn $1,000 into luxury, points, and $400 back

There’s a new targeted card offer floating around from this bank that gives you $200 back when you spend $1,000 at luxury Hilton brands (think Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, LXR, Signia, or NoMad).

It runs through December 31, 2025, and applies globally — so you’ve got plenty of time to make it work.

Merchant offer for $200 off of $1,000 Hilton purchase

Here’s where it gets fun: If you also hold Hilton’s top-tier credit card (and have this offer on that specific card), you get a $200 resort credit twice each year.

Stack that with the $200 rebate, and suddenly you’re looking at a 40% discount on a $1,000 resort stay — before we even talk about the points haul.

Because these are rebates (not discounts at checkout), you’ll still earn rewards on the full $1,000. That means:

  • Hilton base earnings (10x per dollar)

  • Diamond elite status bonus (another 10x)

  • Card earnings (14x on Hilton spend if you use that Hilton card)

Plus, you can tack on a nice shopping portal bonus — Capital One’s portal, for example, is currently offering up to 11x miles on Hilton bookings.

11x miles back at Hilton through Capital One Offers

To put that into perspective: a single $1,000 booking could earn you 34,000+ Hilton points, 11,000 Capital One miles, and $400 back in credits.

Here’s how I’m personally playing it:

China is packed with incredible Hilton resorts, and one that caught my eye is the Conrad Hangzhou Tonglu — perched in the mountains just a couple of hours from Shanghai.

Rooms run about $275 per night… pretty hefty.

But a four-night stay would cost $1,100, trigger all the credits, and drop the net cost to just $700 (about $175 per night) — all while earning a mountain of points for my next trip and enjoying an ultra-luxurious, unique stay. 🙌

💪 Epic redemption from the lounge

This week’s Daily Drop Lounge win comes from someone who booked their very first redemption — and it’s a beauty:

Two one-way tickets from Istanbul to Washington, D.C. for just 40,000 Aeroplan points + $140 each. That works out to about 3.7¢ per point, which is a solid redemption value by any measure.

But here’s what we love most: “I’m sure there are better deals out there, but it met my timing and my emotional needs, lol.”

That’s the whole point of points (pun intended). It’s not just about squeezing out every last cent of value — it’s about finding something that works for your trip, your dates, and yes… even your emotional needs. 😉

We think this member should be seriously proud — and if you want to celebrate your own wins (or learn how to get here), come hang out with us!

Wow, that was a packed one, eh? I hope you enjoyed this mix of content to finish off the week on a high note.

Have a great weekend and see you bright and early Monday ❤️
