😮 We couldn't have anticipated this
A card and a bank that NEVER offers elevated welcome bonuses finally has. Plus, we get into all the best travel deals and tips from the week.
Welcome back to your weekend dose of Daily Drop! Do any of you long-time travelers still get as excited as I do when peering out of an airplane window??
I’ve seen that view a thousand times, but it just never gets old 😍
Speaking of things we love, let’s get to all the travel goods from this past week.
✅ Check out all these ways you could earn Marriott Bonvoy elite status.
✅ Have you seen our latest YouTube videos? If you’re curious about earning 120,000 UR points, watch this one. If you want to know more about the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card’s elevated welcome offer, check this one out!

🏆 Favorite pick of the week: The Venture Rewards card FINALLY has an elevated welcome offer
Capital One is like the stubborn aunt who buys you an Old Navy t-shirt EVERY YEAR for Christmas and refuses to deviate from that no matter how much you plead (or how old you get… hello, I’m 32 now 🫠).
And if you don’t have a similar “stubborn aunt” trauma and can’t relate… then… this is just awkward.
But anyway.
For the bank that truly never budges from the baseline welcome offers on its credit cards, the fact that THEY FINALLY DID, is just so exciting.
Right now, the Venture card is offering a $250 Capital One travel credit on top of the ability to earn 75,000 bonus miles after you spend $4,000 in the first three months of account opening.
So yeah, that happened this week.
The 75,000 bonus miles plus the new $250 credit is equal to at least $1,000 in travel. AT LEAST.
Plus, being able to earn 2x miles per dollar on everything at a minimum is outright fantastic. Especially for a card that doesn’t come with a premium priced annual fee.
There’s a lot to love about the Venture Card, and if you want a nice breakdown of all its features, check out this article for all the reasons why it should find a home in your wallet ❤️
🏃🏻♀️ Runner-Ups
🥇United has launched another round of MilePlay offers
We see this little promo pop up every now and then, and even though it’s not a mind-blowing deal, it’s still a deal nonetheless!
MilePlay offers vary by person and are sent out to United MileagePlus members that include completing a required number of flights to be awarded a certain number of bonus miles.
Mike shared earlier this week that he received an offer to complete one flight to receive 3,000 bonus miles. Not bad.
This is what I received in my account 👇
And here are the terms and conditions to know about:
You need to first register for your offer
In my case, I need to complete two paid flights before the end of the registration period (September 13th, 2024)
Those flights need to each cost at least $100 for the base fare price
For me, I actually need to book two positioning flights for later in August in order to get ready for an international flight over to Italy.
So this bonus might work out perfectly for me to book those two flights (one going and one returning), meet the spending requirement, and earn a nice little chunk of bonus miles to be used for a future redemption 😎
If you fly with United, have a potential flight coming up that you need to book, and are interested in earning some bonus miles, register for this promo to see what you get!
🥈 Get Spontaneous with Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines has launched another round of Spontaneous Escapes, a promo that offers us discounted award flights in multiple fare classes to multiple destinations.
Now, spontaneous is in the very name of this thing… so if you want to take advantage of this deal, you’ll have to practice being a little spontaneous yourself.
And that’s because:
You must complete your booking by July 31st
Travel needs to take place between August 1st - 31st, 2024
Awards are non-refundable and non-changeable
Only certain routes and fare classes on those routes have discounts.
I think the majority of you will be most excited about and would hopefully be able to take advantage of routes to/from the U.S. 👇
These particular routes are offering discounted rates for premium economy, but there are also some business-class flights available if you’re departing from Singapore.
You can find all the featured routes here.
I always enjoy seeing whenever a new Spontaneous Escapes drops, and it’s even better knowing that you can transfer points from every major bank to Singapore Airlines in order to make a booking happen.
So I have one final thing to ask… Are you feeling spontaneous? 😎
📣 Quick Callouts
👀 Woah: Mike has elite status with 58 airlines. Here’s how.
💰 Good: [Potentially targeted] Save $250 on a Virgin Atlantic flight with this merchant offer
🤓 Travel trivia: Which is the oldest continuously operating airport in the world?
🌎 Inspo: Where in the World Wednesday: Puerto Vallarta in business class
🛂 Interesting: Using China’s visa-free transit program once again.
The only thing I have left to say is… Cheers to the weekend!
