Good morning and welcome back to Daily Drop, where we spend an unhealthy amount of time thinking about points so you don’t have to.

Speaking of that, I’ve got three bits of good news and fun points stories for you today:

✈️ New: Transfer miles to Frontier Airlines (with a 25% bonus)

Rove Miles is unsurprisingly back with yet another new transfer partner, and this one is…. Interesting... in a good way.

As of today, you can now transfer Rove Miles to Frontier Airlines at a 1:1 ratio.

And to celebrate this new partner, Rove is also offering a 25% transfer bonus for the entire month of July.

Finally, Rove has a U.S. transfer partner

In my opinion, Rove’s list of partners is extremely good… if you’re willing to take advantage of partner awards and international programs.

But it’s also nice to have a simple, budget domestic airline on the roster.

Frontier has some really good deals with miles, and this is the first time we’ve seen them added as a transfer partner of any major program.

For example, you can book short-haul flights for as few as 5,000 miles and $6 in taxes and fees.

With the transfer bonus, that’s just 4,000 Rove miles.

💡 Pro Tip: If you’re new to Rove, check out our full guide to earning and redeeming Rove Miles.

That’s not a bad deal if you’re primarily looking to hop around the U.S. with your points.

But Frontier does also have some international routes.

For example, you can fly from Chicago all the way down to the Dominican Republic for 12,500 Frontier miles and $56 in taxes and fees.

With the Rove bonus, you’ll shell out just 10,000 Rove Miles to get from the bitter cold of Chicago to the warm beaches of the Caribbean.

Not too bad, eh?

And if right now you’re thinking, “I don’t have enough Rove Miles and have no way to get them,” I’ve got some good news for you if you keep reading. 😉

🔁 How to transfer Rove Miles to other users

The other day, I was with my best friend in Tanzania. He needed to fly to the U.S. soon to visit his family, and was asking me for help using points.

He had around 20,000 MR points sitting in his account from years ago before he moved to Tanzania, which was…. Not enough.

We found this great deal through Flying Blue to get from Kilimanjaro (his home airport) to Boston for just 40,000 miles:

But of course, he only had 20,000 points to transfer…

So I decided to throw a Hail Mary… I reached out to Rove Miles and asked if there was any way I could transfer some of my miles to another user.

They said:

So here’s what we did:

I had my friend set up a new Rove account. Since he used the Daily Drop referral link, he got 1,000 miles instantly.

Then, I transferred 19,000 of my miles to him, which he then transferred to Flying Blue.

Boom. After combining those with his MR points, he now has a ticket from Tanzania to the U.S.

This makes Rove Miles even more exciting

Being able to transfer Rove Miles between users is actually fantastic news. It’s heavily restricted, and you can only do it a few times a year, but it still makes the program more flexible than most others.

For example, as I mentioned, anyone can get 1,000 Rove Miles instantly when signing up. No purchases required, just 1,000 miles.

If you have a big family and can create multiple accounts, you can each sign up for Rove (with this link) to get 1,000 miles each.

After each member racks up at least 1,000 more miles, you could pool those together into one account and have enough to book something meaningful.

To transfer miles, just do this:

  • On Rove’s website, start a live chat

  • Tell them you want to transfer miles to someone

  • Give them the user’s name and phone number (associated with their account)

That’s it. Super simple.

💳 Points Pursuit Episode 2: Ohio

If you put $500 of spending on a single card in a strategic way, how many points do you think you’d earn?

You might be surprised at the answer…

And that’s pretty much what Daily Drop’s very own April Wilson did in this week’s episode of Points Pursuit. 👇

In April’s episode, she showed Brendan and Erin around beautiful (and weird) Ohio – including stops in Cornhenge, cool museums, and…. interesting... art exhibits.

The fun part about this week’s episode is that April put all of her spending for this visit on a single credit card, which was a bold strategy.

If you want to see how this shook out (and get some quirky inspiration for your trip to Ohio), check out April’s full breakdown below or watch the YouTube video above.

That’s gonna do it for today, amigos.

I hope you enjoy this week’s Points Pursuit episode as much as I did, and I’ll see you again tomorrow.

Ciao,
