This was the easiest award booking I've ever made. Plus, is everything we know about the 5/24 rule a lie??
Good morning, and happy November! Itās been a very exciting week here at Daily Dropā¦ā¦. š
If you tuned in at all this week, then you know the secret is outā¦ and itās in the form of our new toolāDaily Drop Pro.
Letās get to chatting about that and all the other cool happenings from this week š
ā Hyatt is sending out some more great offers. Check your accounts!
ā Virgin Atlantic has moved to dynamic award pricing, but itās not all badā¦
ā Our latest YouTube video features a comprehensive walkthrough of the brand-new Daily Drop Pro!
ā Hereās an update on the crazy SAS Million Mile challenge.
š Favorite pick of the week: Daily Drop Pro Launch
The excitement has been high at the āvirtualā DD headquarters this week, and thatās because we launched our incredible travel toolāDaily Drop Pro!
Daily Drop Pro was created to be your one-stop shop to:
Easily search for flights and hotels (whether with points or cash!)
Receive cheap airfare deal alerts
Organize your credit cards and points in a virtual wallet
And engage with a like-minded community in our Pro Lounge
ā¼ļø Before I continue: Our special launch price of just $99 a year FOR LIFE ends at midnight on Monday, November 4th. After that, itāll increase to $149. So donāt wait to sign up!
For starters, this newsletter section is waaaay too short to give you an in-depth breakdown. If you want to learn how to use all of DD Proās features, Iād highly recommend our YouTube video that does just that.
But as someone who considers themselves a pro at this travel stuff, I still find the travel planning process to be cumbersome, exhausting, and overwhelming at timesā¦
Whatās wild is that the very first day I played around with DD Pro before it was even live to the public, I decided to try and find an award flight for an actual trip I was hoping to take early next yearā¦
I had been eyeing a business class flight from Vancouver to Frankfurt for 70,000 Aeroplan miles, but when I put in that exact route in the DD Pro search, it presented me with this š
The second option showed me I could get that same Lufthansa business class seat for just 63,000 Avianca LifeMiles š®
Needless to say, I booked that flight immediately and saved myself 7,000 precious miles in the process.
Additionally, DD Pro also has a āCompare with Cashā option which promptly showed me Iād have to fork over $6,269 if I wasnāt using miles. Gulp.
That brings my valuation to a whopping 10 cents per point which is CRAZY good.
Now if that isnāt a real-world example of how great DD Pro is, then I donāt know what is!
And there is SO much more to this tool (again, check out our YouTube vid), and we are so proud of it š„¹
We hope itāll be a game-changer for your future travel planning, but remember, the special launch price of $99 for life ends at midnight on November 4th!!

š„Is the 5/24 rule dead?
Ah, the 5/24 ruleāan unwritten rule that belongs to this bank and has fueled travel lore for years.
To be less dramatic about it, this āruleā says that the bank in question wonāt allow you to apply for a new credit card if youāve signed up for five or more cards in the previous 24 months.
Get it? 5ā¦ 24ā¦
But whatās interesting, is that both myself and Mike may have accidentally broken this rule š
I was approved for TWO cards (our most popular one and this hotel card) while sitting at 5/24 and 6/24, respectively.
WILD.
I took a gamble, and it worked.
Mike was also approved for this business card while sitting at his very own 5/24 limit.
So, should that stop you from applying for a new card if you reeeeally want it and youāre āoverā the limit?
You can draw your own conclusions from this, butā¦ Is the 5/24 rule dead?! Orā¦ what the heck?!
Mike provides a bit more of an explanation in our original newsletter section, so if this interests you, Iād check it out š
š„ Get your mileage runs in before the end of the year
Itās that time of year again when all the travel nerds who want elite status take a look at the drawing board and see if we need to book any flights before the end of the year.
But these flights often donāt have an actual trip attached to themā¦ If thatās the case, itās properly called a āmileage run.ā
To be clear, a mileage run is when you book a flight that you really donāt need to take otherwiseā¦
Itās more about completing the flight, getting the miles, or collecting whatever else is needed to help you reach elite status before everything resets back to zero.
If youāre close to reaching a certain elite status, this might be a last-ditch effort to get it.
After all, elite status usually comes with some nice perks for the following yearāthings like priority boarding, extra checked bags, maybe even lounge access š
But obviously booking an extra flight costs money, so you also have to evaluate if the cash cost to do this will be worth the elite status youāll hold for the following year.
If you want more context and some specific examples of a mileage run, check that out here!
