š Favorite pick of the week: Whatās a āsweet spotā?
Perhaps youāve heard us throw that phrase around before, and itās been a hot minute since weāve revisited that topic.
Utilizing an airline sweet spot for us travel nerds is like reaching into the back of the freezer to find a box of Girl Scouts Thin Mints (the best option, come at me) you hid in there four months ago.
Theyāre not always obvious to everyone else, but when you find themā¦ theyāre really freaking sweet.
Every damn year.
ANYWAY.
In the most simplistic terms, an airline sweet spot is an award ticket that you can find for a particular route at a PHENOMENAL rate.
Weāre all about maximizing our miles and points here at Daily Drop, and a sweet spot does just that.
I know this probably still sounds vague to you allā¦ and thatās because it sort of is.
So if youād like more details on what a sweet spot is and some actual, real-life examples of sweet spots you can book for yourself, Iāll kindly direct you to this weekās newsletter section that does all the explaining š¤

š„How to use your credit card insurance for a medical emergency abroad
Getting sick or injured is an occasional and unfortunate part ofā¦being aliveā¦š¤·š»āāļø
And itās even more unfortunate (and downright scary) if that happens while traveling in a foreign country.
Whether itās a visit to a doctorās office, being prescribed medications, enduring a hospital stay, or even having surgeryā¦ you could be covered if you hold a premium credit card.
We talk A LOT about credit card perks and benefits, but usually just the fun onesālounge access, travel credits, earning rates, etc.
But what we donāt talk about enough is the insurance that can come with certain cards.
Our head writer, Mike, unfortunately, had to undergo emergency surgery to remove his appendix while traveling in Indonesia, and it wasā¦ sketchy.
Aside from all the stress, trauma, and unknowns of being in that situation in the first place, thereās one thing that shines brightly hereā¦
And that is his extensive medical insurance which came from holding [[ the-platinum-card-canadian.name ]] (and hereās the U.S. version, [[ the-platinum-card-from-american-express.name ]], for the rest of us š).
He wrote an entire, comprehensive resource that I think many of you will find interesting and valuable if you were ever to be in the same situation.
In his resource, he details:
The steps he took to initiate coverage
The steps the insurance company took
How he coordinated with the hospital, insurance company, and intermediary company for billing
Additional tips for being prepared ahead of time
š„ Woahā¦ 50% transfer bonus to Turkish Airlines
This was unexpected, but sometimes the best things in life are š
Right now, thereās a 50% transfer bonus from ThankYou points to Turkish Airlines!
At surface levelā¦ this might not sound that exciting because youāre probably thinking, āI donāt fly Turkish Airlines on even a semi-regular basis.ā
And I would say, āYeah, neither do Iā¦ā
BUT WAIT.
Would you believe me when I say that Turkish Airlines allows you to book domestic flights in the U.S. (on United Airlines) for just 10,000 Turkish miles one-way? š¤Æ
Yes, this is true.
In fact, you could fly all the way to Hawaii from the East Coast for just 10,000 Turkish miles.
But donāt forget about that transfer bonusā¦ Suddenly those 10,000 ThankYou points become only 6,700 ThankYou points needed to book a United flightā¦ via Turkishās siteā¦ using Turkish miles.
Itās kind of wild.
If you want some more examples of how to take advantage of this bonus, including booking business-class flights, head over to this newsletter for more details!
