🔍 The trick to easier award searches

Happy Halloween weekend and welcome back to another Weekend Round-Up,

Holiday airfare prices are at a 10-year high, political ads are off the chain, and strangers keep ringing the doorbell asking for candy.

And while it may not be the best coping mechanism, planning a trip always soothes the scaries for me… or at least gives me something else to worry about.

So here are some scary-good travel tips that can help make that happen! 👻

🏆 Our Favorite Pick: Easy, breezy award searches

No matter how you feel about them, the holidays — and, more importantly, winter — are coming. ❄️

As someone who really only experiences snow in the Christmas movies I’m about to start binge-watching in my living room… winter is kinda a foreign concept to me.

But some of my colleagues here at Daily Drop get some very real winters. And this southern gal is concerned for them. 😳

Some of them (ahem… Sam) have already been on the lookout for mid-winter getaway deals, and so I thought, what if we planned a lil content team getaway for them to defrost?

Since the only qualifications are: a) not freezing cold and b) an affordable deal, we can cast a wide net.

Sooo, I decided to play with the revamped Daily Drop Pro search tool to see what I could dig up. 

My favorite new features

It’s a big week for Daily Drop Pro! Daily deal cards are now popping up in the newsletter and the award search tool just got revamped, which I’m all about.

Search multiple airports and dates at once

IMO, the handiest new feature is the ability to search more than one destination and origin airport at a time. You can now search for award flights from up to three different destinations to three different origins all at the same time.

This is really useful in a situation like this, where the deal ultimately dictates our destination. Plus, if you’re open to repositioning to a better departure airport (or you're looking for deals for people in different cities), you can do it all in one search!

And while it technically says you can only include 3 airports in each search box, adding cities that say “METRO” searches every airport in that metro area, so it actually searches a few more!

I can also search up to 29 dates at a time, meaning I can scour the whole month of February for the absolute best deals.

Compare prices across days and programs

Once I run my search, it’ll show me the lowest award pricing across seven days and let me filter the results by different points currencies. 

After I click into a deal, it’ll go a step further and show me prices from various programs, which banks I can transfer points from, and at what ratios.

Includes transfer bonus details

My hands-down favorite new feature, though, is that Daily Drop Pro now tells you when there’s a current transfer bonus, when it expires, and exactly how many points you need to transfer over for that specific award.

No more mental math trying to make sure I move over the correct number of points. (I may or may not have screwed this up a couple of times in the past. 😬 )

And if that’s not enough…

I’ve really barely scratched the surface of all the good stuff in there now:

• An interactive map — showing you flight deals around the world from your list of airports

• Light mode — the much-requested option is here; less eye strain and more Jedis.

• Flame ratings — so you know how good of a deal you’re getting 🔥

• Points deals in every cabin — you get deals, you get deals, everyone gets deals.

Honestly, the biggest problem now is convincing Mike to come to the beach… knowing him, we’ll end up in parkas in a remote part of Canada hunting the aurora borealis. 🥶
