šÆ The points-accelerator you should know about
It involves a card combo you may not be familiar with. Plus, we're at risk for losing how we earn and redeem points for travel, but you can take action.
Well, hello againā¦ š
Letās give a big round of applause to YOU for making it to the weekend.
But nowā¦ the whole reason youāre hereā¦ Letās talk travel, shall we??
ā Take advantage of Deltaās āWinter Your Wayā event (bonus points galore)!
ā Have you ever tried āsuiteā talking your way into an airport lounge?
ā Fancy a trip to Alaska? Watch our latest YouTube video to learn how you can make it happen using miles and points!
ā Right now you can buy IHG points with a 100% bonus or Avianca LifeMiles with up to a 180% bonus.
š Favorite pick of the week: This should be your next card combo
Pairing two cards together with great earning rates in different categories is one of the best travel strategies for accelerating the points you can earn.
I know many of you already have our most popular card (whether you signed up years ago or just last month) all thanks to the TWO elevated offers we saw on it this year š
But thereās a killer cash-back card on the market that can literally multiply your earnings if you pair it with our most popular oneā¦ š
Alone, this cash-back card is just a cash-back cardā¦ and not so killer.
But when paired with this card that earns UR points, those cash-back rewards can be transformed into super-valuable UR points.
Letās take a peek at this cash-back cardās baseline earning rates:
5% cash back on purchases made through this bankās portal
3% cash back on drugstore purchases and dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery service
1.5% cash back on all other purchases
Not bad, but waitā¦
Its current welcome offer will add an EXTRA 1.5% back to ALL of the baseline earning rates (up to $20,000 spent in the first year).
Soā¦ š
And remember, when paired with this card, that cash-back effectively becomes UR points!!
Thatās 4.5x points per dollar on dining and drugstore purchases and 3x points per dollar on all non-category spending! Everything! š¤Æ
Anyway, I hope you can see how pairing these two cards together will wildly accelerate the amount of UR points you can earn.
And speaking of pointsā¦ Our ability to earn and redeem them for travel could seriously be at risk šš„

ā¼ļø The Points Guy: Take Action & Protect Your Points
Yāall, this topic is super important.
Something called the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) has been floating around for a while now.
And if Congress moves forward in passing the CCCA, it could ultimately destroy credit card rewards programs altogether. š§
Okay, butā¦ how?!
Credit cards are the most secure way to make a purchase because card issuers enlist payment networks, like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, to ensure these transactions are protected.
This safeguard is crucial, but to keep this service funded, those networks charge a small interchange (or transaction) fee to the merchant.
Not only does that fee contribute to funding enhanced security software to protect both the merchant and consumers, but it also helps fund credit card reward programs that incentivize a consumer to use a given card (and earn points!).
ā¦because as we know, points are life. LITERAL LIFE š«
If this passes, a new mandate to reduce interchange fees will be in place to shift from using larger, trusted networks to cheaper, less secure ones.
This could greatly increase the risk of cyber-attacks and fraud for both you as the cardholder, as well as many small businesses who rely on these larger networks for added protection.
In addition to this security concern, can you imagine a world without miles and points to help us travel the world?? š
The BEST way you can protect your points is to reach out to your stateās congressional representative.
Iāve already taken action, and now itās your turn š«”

š„ Should you subscribe to earn airline miles?
Who doesnāt love a good subscription, am I right? Think Amazon, YouTube, Max, Cat Lady Box (this is real), etc.
Jumping on board with this idea, our beloved Flying Blue (joint loyalty program of KLM and Air France) launched a monthly subscription service to get miles each month at a cheaper cost š
And while itās important to realize that not all points or miles-buying opportunities will set you ahead, some of them willā¦
In my mind, the only option here is to go for the āCompleteā tier which will sell you miles at a rate of 1.34 cents per point. This is a whole lot cheaper than what youād normally be able to buy Flying Blue miles for.
And when you consider the fact that many of Flying Blueās monthly promos start at just 15,000 miles for a one-way flight across the Atlanticā¦ Paying $228 for that is pretty darn good š
Plus, Iām always either flying to or positioning myself in Europe (a major hub for KLM and Air France).
But it doesnāt stop there. You can also use Flying Blueās program to book award flights on other SkyTeam airlines they partner with, which opens up a (literal) world of possibilities.
If you kept this subscription for 12 months at the āCompleteā tier of 17,000 miles a month, youād earn a total of 204,000 miles for a cost of $2734.
That is a š© ton of miles for very good value.
So I thought, āWhat the heck?ā Iāll subscribe š¤·š»āāļø
You can cancel at anytime, which is great, but in the meantime, Iāll see how long I want to keep this going depending on how much I want to pay and how many miles I want to accrue in my account to redeem for future flights š
