šŸ’Ŗ Status matches and side hustles

There's a rate status match floating around, and we've got just the card for you if you've got a side hustle.

Good morning and happy weekend to a WHOLE bunch of you. For some of you, receiving our weekend newsletter is nothing new, but for many of youā€¦ Welcome!

Orā€¦ surprise?! šŸ˜…

You may not have known, but weā€™ve had a weekend round-up newsletter for a while now.

But if a weekend dose of Daily Drop isnā€™t for you (and you never want to see this again), go and update your preferences here.

But hey, if youā€™re already here, why donā€™t you hang out for a while? šŸ„°

Each weekend, Iā€™ll be sending you a recap of all the best travel news, deals, and tips from the past week with that same DD flare you all know and love.

šŸ† Favorite pick of the week: JetBlue is offering a rare status match

JetBlue? Is that you? Offering aā€¦ status match?! šŸ˜±

Well, that doesnā€™t happen very often (like never).

How it works is if you have status with Alaska, American, Delta, or United, JetBlue will offer you a corresponding level of their Mosaic status for three months šŸ‘‡

Screenshot showing JetBlue's current status match

You can see from the image above that youā€™re only able to match to Mosaic levels 1 and 2, which are JetBlueā€™s lower elite levels.

Still, with Mosaic 1, you get two free checked bags; free inflight beer, wine, or liquor; priority boarding; and a handful of other perks.

With Mosaic 2, you also get the option to book extra legroom seats at no extra charge on every JetBlue-operated flight (pending availability).

So those status tiers arenā€™t for nothing.

But whatā€™s also exciting with this status match is that you then have the ability to earn Mosaic 3 during those three months.

And thatā€™s where it really starts to get goodā€¦ As Mosaic 3 comes with four Mint upgrades, allowing you to upgrade your seat into JetBlueā€™s swanky business class šŸ˜Ž

Or if you want to get straight to matching, use this form to get started!

šŸ„‡ Sweet Spot: Fly around Europe for 4k points

White sign posts with different country names point in different directions

Europe! Wooh! Be honestā€”we all love it there.

We talk a lot about how to get to Europe from the U.S. and Canada, but we donā€™t often talk a lot about how to get around Europe once youā€™re there.

And thatā€™s where this sweet spot comes in šŸ˜

In this case, weā€™re going to be looking at Virgin Atlantic and taking advantage of their award pricingā€”mainly, the fact that they calculate distance flow from the total starting and ending point of an itinerary across any and all flights.

That might seem obvious and like how every distance-based award chart works, butā€¦ thereā€™s a sneaky way you could technically fly further for fewer miles in this case šŸ‘€

Maximizing this sweet spot takes a bit more explaining than I have room for in this weekend round-up newsletter, so if youā€™re interested in how this might work in your favor, check out our full-length newsletter for all the details.

šŸ„ˆ Do you have a side hustle?

Text that says Business on a blue background with an envelope and money symbol

I promise Iā€™m not just being nosey, butā€¦ I am a little curious šŸ˜Š

I know for a fact that many of you have recently signed up for our top business card because of its INSANE welcome offer (120,000 UR points type of insane).

Oh the things I would do with 120,000 UR pointsā€¦ šŸ¤¤

And I know the word ā€œbusinessā€ in a credit cardā€™s name is a big turn-off to most people.

You probably think, ā€œBusiness credit cards donā€™t apply to me. I donā€™t have a business.ā€

As it turns out, though, you very well might have your own business if you walk dogs, do photography, or make goods to sell on Etsy (among many other things).

In fact, the DD team got so curious that we created a poll in our Facebook Lounge to ask those of you who HAVE signed up for a business card what you put as your second income or side hustle to get approved.

And here are those results šŸ‘‡

A pie chart showing results of different business

How cool, huh?

Iā€™m not surprised at all to see online businesses/services, real estate, and freelancing on that list.

But I WAS pleasantly surprised to see a professional athlete and dancer on there!

Anyway, the bottom line is this:

Contrary to what you may think, you do NOT need a massive, multi-million dollar company under your belt to apply for a business credit card.

These cards also usually have some of the best welcome offers, like our current top business card does.

Itā€™d be a shame to miss out on earning so many points, so we wanted to highlight this particular card before its elevated offer ends on September 5th at 9 AM EST šŸ‘€

šŸ“£ Quick Callouts

Thanks for joining me again on this fine weekend (or welcome, if youā€™re new here šŸ˜Š).

Iā€™m off to indulge in my third gelato of the day while here in Italyā€¦ and I hope you also enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Ciao, and ci vediamo ā¤ļø
