šØ Red Alert: Why aren't more people freaking out about this deal?
Honestly, this is one of the best opportunities we've seen this year. Plus, we'll tell you about some upcoming deals for certain "members."
Estimated read time: 4 minutes and 23 seconds
šÆšµ Maybe Iām late to the game on this one, but have you heard that you can buy mystery flights from various vending machines in Japan? Yeah, me freaking either. Read more about it here.

š Itās almost Member Weekā¦ and itās a good one

šØ Red Alert: Why arenāt more people freaking out about this deal?
What if I told you that right now, there was a way for you to earn $2,000 worth of points?
What If I told you that those points were actually Ultimate Rewards points, one of the most valuable currencies in the land?
And what if I told you that youād earn it all from a credit card that costs $0 per year?
Would you think Iām lying?
I wouldnāt blame youā¦ it sounds absurd.
But Iām not lying. Iām TRUTH-ing. Because right now, the [[ ink-business-unlimited-credit-card.name ]] has a limited-time signup bonus of 90,000 UR points.
But hereās what you might not realize:
This is a ridiculous offer. I honestly donāt know why more people arenāt freaking out about it.
Hereās why:
The [[ ink-business-unlimited-credit-card.casual-card-name ]] is the only card that earns more than one [[ ink-business-preferred-credit-card.points-program-override.points-currency ]] per dollar on EVERYTHING. Youāre getting 50% more points for your uncategorized purchases than any other card earning these points.
After meeting the minimum spending requirements ($6,000 in the first three months), youāll have 99,000 UR points total. Thatās worth around $2,000 (or much more, as youāll see).
The [[ ink-business-unlimited-credit-card.casual-card-name ]] HAS NO ANNUAL FEE.
Need I say more?
Too bad, Iām gonna say more anyway.
UR points are valuable because you can transfer them out to airline and hotel partners.
For example, this stay at the Hyatt Regency in Mexico City would cost youā¦ and Iām not joking hereā¦ $5,501 for a 7-night stay.
But if you have 99,000 UR points, you can transfer them to Hyatt and book this exact stay on these exact nights for 84,000 points total.
In this case, your [[ ink-business-unlimited-credit-card.casual-card-name ]] just got you a $5,000 stayā¦ and you still have 15,000 points left over.
Still not convinced?
Thatās fine.
Right now, you can transfer [[ ink-business-preferred-credit-card.points-program-override.points-currency ]] to Virgin Atlantic with a 30% transfer bonus.
You could transfer 73,000 points to Virgin, which would give you 95,000 miles after the bonus.
Thatās enough to book round-trip flights to Europe in Virginās lie-flat business-class seats, which only cost 47,500 miles each way.
And after this, youād have 26,000 points left over.
If you could get yourself to Vienna, you could use those 26,000 points to book a 7-night stay at this Hyatt property, which only costs 3,500 points per night.
If you were to book this trip with cash, youād pay a whopping $13,904 for the flights and hotels.
But youāre not doing that. Youāre signing up for the [[ ink-business-unlimited-credit-card.casual-card-name ]], being a savvy travel hacker, and getting it for āfree.ā
As with any good travel hack, however, there is some fine print:
This is technically a cash-back card. However, if you own another card that earns UR points, you can convert your cash back into points. (Read this newsletter where we talk more about this topic)
This is a business card. But as weāve said over and over, you donāt really need a business to get it. You can read this one for more on that topic.
Other than that, hop on this offer now, because it wonāt be around for much longer.
š Itās almost Member Weekā¦ and itās a good one
If you want to feel extra special for a week just for being a cardholder of and [[ american-express-gold-card.issuer.name ]] cardā¦ then starting Monday, itās your time to shine š
So yeah, [[ american-express-gold-card.issuer.name ]] is hosting an official Member Week from October 9th-13th to show appreciation for all its cardholders š
Itās stuffed full of unique and exclusive limited-time offers and experiences, but here are a few that stand out as most useful and interesting, in my opinion:
Get a $25 statement credit when you spend a minimum of $75 at participating Resy restaurants (via the Resy reservation platform), up to two times. Must redeem by Dec. 8, 2023.
Earn an $80 statement credit at select Hilton properties when spending $200+ on reservations booked directly through Hilton.
Delta SkyMiles card members can earn additional travel credits when booking eligible international flights through Delta.
Card members (excluding Delta SkyMiles) will have access to a variety of different offers on select airlines and cruises when booking through this travel portal.
You could even snag presale tickets for events like the 2024 U.S. Open Golf championship or Coachellaā¦ if wearing sequins and leather fringe is your vibe (but probably just wear that to Coachella and not the U.S. Openā¦.)
So whoās eligible? These weeklong promos are available to U.S. consumer and small business cardholders, with some offers being targeted, but many of them available to all.
And even if youāre just a prospective cardholder, you can get in on the fun by signing up for a Member Week Passāa first for this yearās festivities.
I personally think itās fun to shop around and take advantage of anything that really interests me and earns me additional rewards and statement credits, but I also wouldnāt go out of my way just to force something.
You can find the full details on Member Week here, including how to sign up for a Member Week Pass.
And psst, I heard additional rewards will be released starting next week, so consider what you see just a teaser for nowā¦ š
š³ Current transfer bonuses
It can be hard to keep track of all of the awesome transfer bonuses going on at any given timeā¦
So Iāve decided that every week on Friday, Iāll update you on which banks and programs are offering bonuses, and when they expire.
Now you have no excuse to miss out on a good transfer bonus. š
30% from thank you points to Virgin Atlantic (ends October 14th)
30% from Marriott Bonvoy to United (ends October 31st)
30% from UR points to Virgin Atlantic (ends November 15th)
One of my favorite ways to learn about new travel hacks is in our very own Daily Drop Lounge, an online community of DD fans and travel hackers.
Hereās a look at a post from this past week if you want a taste of what youāre missing:
And unlike your local airport lounge, you wonāt have any trouble getting into the Daily Drop Lounge. š
Thatās all for this week! I donāt know about yāall, but Iām ready for the weekend.
But before you go partyā¦
