🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 A 453-acre private island off Scotland's west coast is for sale. Sanda Island, between Scotland and Northern Ireland, has historical ties to monks, saints, and kings, and offers boat and helicopter access. Maybe we all go in on it together? Just a thought. More info here.

Hello and welcome back to Daily Drop, the only part of a weekday morning that’s even better than coffee.

Well… okay, maybe not coffee. But we’re still pretty cool.

Here’s what I’ve got for you:

✈️ Last chance to earn 85,000 Southwest points

Y’all… it is ALMOST a sad day…

And the sad day I speak of is the end of an era—we’re in the final days of that CRAZY 85,000-point welcome offer featured on all of this airline’s consumer credit cards, which are [[ southwest-rapid-rewards-priority-credit-card.issuer.name ]].

Two blue credit card graphics and one grey card graphic

BUT. That day is not here quite yet…

You still have time to sign up and take advantage of 85,000 points… which is a LOT.

Plus, if you need a little more convincing, we have a handy resource that'll detail SIX reasons why you’ll want the [[ southwest-rapid-rewards-plus-credit-card.name ]], (or any of the airline’s popular cards) in your wallet.

Seriously, they made a BOSS move with this elevated offer, and I still can’t believe how good it is 😍

Who knows when we’ll see something like this again, so if you’re interested in scoring a ton of points that could be redeemed for a ton of Southwest flights…

🏨 Buy IHG points with a 100% bonus

Every once in a while, buying points can be an amazing way to save money on hotel stays.

Generally speaking, it only makes sense when there’s a good bonus being offered.

Right now, for example, you can buy IHG points with a 100% bonus (or half a cent each).

Buy IHG points with a 100% bonus

The last time this offer came around, I missed out (because I was silly and forgot about the deadline) even though I really could’ve benefitted.

So… I’m DEFINITELY going to buy some IHG points.

Here’s why:

IHG has tons of properties around the world where the cost of buying points and booking nights is cheaper than paying cash for the same hotels on the same exact nights.

For example, this hotel in Kyoto, Japan, costs $185 per night.

Crowne Plaza Kyoto for $185 per night

A 4-night stay here would run you a cool $740… which is a lot for a Crowne Plaza…

Alternatively, you could simply purchase 70,000 points and book the same 4-night stay and pay a grand total of $350.

In this case, buying points would save you around $400!

Buying 70,000 points would only cost $350

I see opportunities like this all the time when I’m traveling, especially since I have the [[ ihg-rewards-premier-credit-card.name ]] that allows me to get every 4th night free when using IHG points.

So here’s my advice:

If you frequently use IHG points, then now is a great time to top up your balance to use down the road.

If not, I’d still run the numbers and compare cash and points prices at IHG hotels for any upcoming trips.

If buying points can save you a bunch of money, then go for it.

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

The correct answer is... Air New Zealand!

Okay, Air New Zealand!!! They earned the top spot as the safest airline in the world for 2024, according to AirlineRatings.com.

Known for its meticulous safety practices and customer-focused service, Air New Zealand operates a hub in Wellington (with some of the world’s windiest conditions) without compromising safety.

Qantas, Australia’s flagship carrier and one of the world’s oldest airlines, secured the second spot.

Virgin Australia, based in Brisbane, Australia, claimed the third-safest airline title (sensing a trend here?).

All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, also made the top ten list for its exemplary safety standards.

Discover more here about these top-ranking airlines and their commitment to passenger safety, ensuring a worry-free travel experience for travelers everywhere!

As a very frequent traveler, I'm always thankful for airlines that make safety a priority!
