🏨 Earn 50k Marriott points (without a card)

Hello and g’day from beautiful Melbourne, Australia.

To be honest with you, I feel absolutely horrible right now… So today’s email is going to be a few quick (but useful) current travel tips to get you started for the week while I try not to die.

Here’s what I got:

🏨 Earn 50k Marriott points (without a credit card)

We all know that one of the best ways to earn boatloads of extra points is by referring friends and family from your credit cards…

It’s like getting a little mini welcome offer after already getting one.

But right now, there is a way to earn up to 50,000 Marriott Bonvoy points without staying a single night or opening a card - by referring friends to the program.

Marriott refer a friend for 50k points

That’s right - by getting people to sign up for a FREE Marriott Bonvoy account, you can earn tens of thousands of points (and so can they).

Here’s how it works:

When you refer a friend using the form on this page, you’ll earn 2,000 Marriott points each time they complete a paid stay, with a maximum of five people completing five stays each (for a total of 50,000 points).

So yeah, your friends will need to book paid stays in order for you to get points.

But theoretically, this means that you could max out each friend’s referral points by them staying only five nights in a year.

For example, I just stayed at this hotel last night before my early morning flight to Australia, which only cost $56 per night.

And if you need help getting your referred friends excited about this, that’s also easy since they also get 2,000 bonus points per paid stay (up to 10,000 points total).

Overall, this is a great way to earn a meaningful amount of points without requiring a credit card.

If you know people who aren’t Marriott members, fill out the form on this page and get them on board so you can all rack up some points.

✈️ Earn Delta miles from your Hilton stays

Do you like hotel points? Do you also like airline miles?

If so, I’ve got some good news for you. Right now, you can earn 1,000 Delta SkyMiles per Hilton stay.

Earn 1,000 Delta SkyMiles per Hilton stay

Here are the deets:

  • You must register for the offer and link your Hilton and Delta accounts

  • Valid for paid Hilton stays through July 7, 2024

  • Maximum of three stays (for 3,000 points)

  • Only stays booked after registering will count

Will this move the needle at all for booking Delta flights? Nope. Should you go out of your way to take advantage this? HELLZ no.

Is having 3,000 miles better than not having any miles? You betchya.

Given the wide window for completing the stays and the popularity of both Delta and Hilton, I suspect that many of you will not have a problem getting a few thousand extra miles.

🌱 IHG’s “Green Stay” benefit

A wise man once said, “I’m blue. Da ba di da ba die.”

Well, I disagree completely. I think a more accurate statement would be, “I’m green. And because I’m green, I earn a bunch of free points at hotels.”

That’s because of IHG’s new “green stay” initiative. 👇

IHG Green Stay for 500 bonus points per night

As I mentioned earlier, I’m currently in Melbourne at an IHG hotel that is offering this exact perk.

Here’s how it works:

When you check into participating IHG hotels, they’ll give you the neat little card you see in the photo above.

Every night that you leave that sign on your door, you’ll get 500 points per night.

The catch?

Housekeeping will not clean your room the next day…

Meme about cleaning rooms

I don’t know about you, but I’ve felt pretty capable of cleaning my own room for the last 25 years or so.

Honestly, 500 extra points per night is pretty awesome.

Using this hack, I could earn an additional 4,000 points on my 8-night IHG stay that I have later next month.

Every few days, just call down and ask for some extra towels, leave your trash outside the room, etc., and this is an easy way to rack up some extra points toward your next free stay.
