✈️ Delta and JetBlue battle it out

Yesterday was hotels, today is all airlines. Plus, we'll tell you about a unique corner of the world, why you should go there, and how to do it on the cheap.

Estimated read time: 4 minutes and 16 seconds

🏝 As of last Monday, Manhattan opened its first ever public beach. The Gansevoort Peninsula now supports 1,200 tons of sand. But, there’s no swimming at this beach. Intrigued? Read more about it here.

Good morning and welcome back to Daily Drop, the only essential part of a healthy morning routine. Well, coffee too. And breakfast. And maybe some exercise.

Yesterday was hotel-heavy, so today is allllll airlines:

  • 💳 Earn a $100 Delta credit on international flights

  • ✈️ JetBlue is having a flash sale with $39 flights

  • 🌏 Where in the World Wednesday

💳 Earn a $100 Delta credit on international flights

Last week, we told you about Member Week, which is a set of deals for people who hold credit cards from [[ the-platinum-card-from-american-express.issuer.name ]] (though not just that card).

There’s one offer for Delta co-branded cardholders, which I think will apply to quite a few people.

Redacted, as per usual…

Here’s the deal:

  • If you have a Delta co-branded credit card, you can get a $100 credit to use toward international flights

  • You must register for the offer and book your flights by October 13th

  • You must book round-trip flights from the U.S. to an international destination

  • Travel can take place through March 24, 2024

  • You must spend at least $500 to get the credit

Obviously, this is fairly restrictive… But still, a hundred bucks is a hundred bucks, am I right?

And there are definitely ways to maximize this promo by booking flights fairly close to that $500 minimum. For example, you could book this round-trip flight from New York to Lisbon for just $535, which would trigger the credit:

If you live out in the icy midwest and want a warm winter getaway, you could fly from Minneapolis to Cancun for just $517 round-trip in February, which would also trigger this credit.

One other piece of fine print to be aware of:

This deal does not work with Basic Economy flights or award fights. So if you’re booking a points flight with over $500 in taxes and fees, you will not get the credit.

If you’re looking at a basic economy flight, try to find one with a marginally higher cost in Main Cabin economy or Comfort Plus instead so you can trigger the credit.

Given the fact that one of the Delta credit cards has an annual fee of under $100, this is a great way to recoup all or part of your annual fee and justify holding the card for another year.

If you have one of these cards, it’s likely that you’re a Delta flyer and can probably put it to use.

…at least for now, since Delta recently tanked its own program. And if you’re still salty about that, we got you covered.

Because….

✈️ JetBlue is having a flash sale with $39 flights

Why spend $500 to fly on Delta and get a credit when you can just book some cheap JetBlue flights for as little as $39?

That’s right, folks. JetBlue is back with another Fall sale, and this time, they’re for REAL.

Yeah, it’s called the “Fall Real Sale.” I don’t get it, but whatever.

Here are the deets:

  • Book your flights by the end of the day on October 12th

  • Valid for Tuesday and Wednesday travel between October 17th and February 14th

  • Sale applies to the lowest available fare

  • Discounted prices will show in the search (no code needed)

  • There are some blackout dates

So the Tuesday and Wednesday element is a weird move… But still, the fares are so cheap that it might be worth moving your plans around by a day or two to take advantage of it.

I found some pretty epic deals out of cities all around the country. Some notable ones are out of Boston to cities like New York and Detroit for just $39 one-way.

But I think the heaviest hitters here are actually their flights abroad.

For example, If you fly out of New York City, you can fly to places like Bermuda or the Bahamas for just $69 one-way with this sale.

Overall, this is definitely a good deal if it suits your travel plans. However, the booking window is tight, and JetBlue does launch these flash sales every couple of months, so it’s not the end of the world if you miss out.

Check out the airline’s sales page for examples of flights from various cities.

🌏 Where in the World Wednesday

Ah, Copenhagen, the city of bicycles, smørrebrød, and shady weather.

For real, it could be the middle of August, and your chances of having a hot sunny day spiral into a 30 minute (freezing) downpour are pretty dang high.

The Danes have a saying, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing,” so, yeah… pack your shorts and your winter parka.

But if you’re hoping to immerse yourself in some Danish delights and quirks, you’re in luck—FareDrop just sourced this amazing flight for us 👇

First things first, let’s talk about the bikes. Copenhagen is like the Amsterdam of Scandinavia, but with a twist—there are more bicycles than people!

You'll see bike lanes wider than some European roads, and locals zipping past you as if they're auditioning for the next Fast and Furious: Danish Drift 🚴🏻‍♀️💨

I can attest that looking both ways before crossing a street in downtown Copenhagen is crucial if you’re trying to avoid death by bike.

Dodging bikes all day will leave the typical tourist pretty hungry, and that’s where the famous smørrebrød comes in—Copenhagen’s famous open-faced sandwich.

You’ll also want to brace your tastebuds for rye bread, pickled herring, and black licorice-flavored everything. Trust me, it grows on ya.

The architecture, streets, and canals are also just freaking pretty here. And you can’t forget to visit the Little Mermaid statue who has an uncanny resemblance to Beyoncé—iconic, always surrounded by fans, and a tad overrated 👀

I said what I said.

Plus, if you take advantage of this FareDrop and head to Copenhagen this fall, you can’t miss the festive Tivoli Gardens that transform into a pumpkin-filled, fall wonderland for all you PSL-obsessives 🎃
