Good morning and welcome back to your all-time favorite travel newsletter. I know you didnât tell me directly, but I heard it through the grapevine.
Here's what I've got for you today:
đ¨ Buy 15k points for $8
I donât know about you, but when I think of Super 8 Motels, I think of sketchy, run-down hotels off the side of the highway.
Thatâs mostly because that literally describes every Super 8 Iâve stayed at.
But regardless of your opinion of this brand, they serve an important role in this deal to get a lot of points for cheap⌠which, to be clear, you donât need to use at Super 8.
This week, Super 8, a brand that belongs to Wyndhamâs portfolio of hotels, is celebrating its 50th birthday with a deal that is VERY GOOD.
Tomorrow (8/8) at 8:00 AM, Wyndham will be selling 888 packages of free hotel nights for $8.88.
Theyâre so clever.
And although this is marketed as âbuy a free night at Super 8 for $8.88,â itâs not that at all.
Rather, this âfree nightâ comes in the form of 15,000 Wyndham Rewards points credited to your account, as per the terms and conditions. đ
Once you have these points, you can use them at any Wyndham property, of which there are many solid options.
For example, you can book this hotel in Dubai for 15,000 Wyndham points.
Or if youâre more of a Europe kind of person, you could book this nice looking hotel in Brussels, also for just 15,000 points.
In fact⌠if you search for just about any city that has Wyndham properties, youâll find multiple options for 15,000 pointsâŚ
The big catch of this deal is that there are only 888 packages available, so youâll want to make sure you have a Wyndham account and be ready to go right at 8:00 AM EST tomorrow morning.
For just $8.88, I can guarantee youâll be able to put these 15k points to good use for good value.
đ¤ Travel Trivia Tuesday Wednesday
Yesterday, I got so caught up with all the transfer bonuses that I completely forgot it was TUESDAY, a.k.a. trivia day.
But donât worry, I still got you covered. Hereâs some trivia:
Which international city has the most Michelin-starred restaurants in 2024? |
If there are any movie buffs out there, this photo was a hint.
The correct answer is... Tokyo!
Tokyo has topped the list of cities with the most Michelin-starred restaurants in 2024, with a suuuper impressive 200 listings. This includes 12 three-star restaurants, 39 two-star eateries, and 149 one-star establishments.
Personally? Iâm more of a $1 streetside shawarma kind of guy⌠but itâs still interesting to learn about.
Anyway, closely following Tokyo is Paris, with 127 Michelin-starred restaurants, including nine three-star and 15 two-star venues.
The Michelin Guide continues to be the gold standard in culinary excellence, with its ratings influencing foodies and travelers worldwide. For more detailed insights, check out this article.
đ Where in the World Wednesday: Chicago
Weâre keeping it domestic this week with a featured FareDrop deal to Chicago!

Itâs highly customizable, definitely personal, and takes all the work out of the equation for you.

Speaking of cheap flights⌠Vancouverites, rejoice! FareDrop just found you a round-trip flight to Chicago for $281 đŞ
Did you know The Beanâs actual name is Cloud Gate??
I personally love Chicagoâitâs a city of extremes (weather, pizza, sports teams, etc.).
You can truly experience all four seasons in a single day and get into a friendly brawl with a stranger about whose pizza is better.
But as far as things to do?
I really enjoy the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry as well as the Art Institute of Chicago.
Plus, theyâre great options if youâre stuck in an extreme weather day đ
If the weather is superb, Iâd recommend the 18-mile Lakefront Trail. And if youâre looking for a pint, Chicago is apparently the craft beer capital of the country with over 100 local craft breweries.
Plus, a visit to a new city wouldnât be complete without some quirkiness thrown inâŚ
A few of my favorites include sitting in the âSplash Zoneâ at Blue Man Group (waterproof ponchos provided) and swinging by the Secret Agent Supply Co. (for all your secret agent needs đ).
So yeah, a trip to Chicago is always a good time to be had.
And remember, if you never want to overpay for a flight again, try out FareDrop today đ¤
The age-old question⌠Quantity or quality?
In this weekâs Daily Drop YouTube Video, Brendan compares experiences and award prices for a range of hotels, from budget to luxury, to try and answer the question: Is it worth the extra points?
Check it out. đ
Thatâs gonna do it for today, kiddos.
Thanks as always for tuning in to another rendition of Daily Drop, and I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.
