š Book Southwest flights for 3k points each (but hurry)
Plus, you'll never guess which program is offering double points right now...
Estimated read time: 4 minutes and 48 seconds
šøš¦ Delta has just announced a partnership with Riyadh Air, a new Saudi airline that hasnāt even launched yet. This partnership will also involve Delta offering new direct flights to Saudi Arabia, which could be interesting.
Good morning and welcome back to Daily Drop, the slurpee of newsletters. Whether itās a hot summer day or the middle of winter, we just always hit the spot.
Happy 7/11, yāall. š
Anyway, hereās some travel stuff:
āļø Today Only: 40% off flights to Hawaii (and more)
I love me a good Southwest saleā¦
Especially when it applies to both cash AND award flightsā¦ š
Right now, for a VERY limited time (today only), you can save a bunch of money (or points) with two different Southwest sales.
Here are the two components:
Book all kinds of Southwest flights for as little as $59 or 3,800 points
40% discount on flights between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii
Both of these are quite appealingā¦ While Southwest has traditionally been a ālow-cost carrier,ā their prices have steadily been going up over the years.
So when they drop flights for just $59 (donāt forget that Southwest offers two free checked bags for EVERY passenger), itās noteworthy.
For example, you can fly from Atlanta to Orlando for $59 one-way with wide-open availability.
But as I mentioned, this sale also includes award bookingsā¦
And while the advertised sale is for flights as low as 3,800 points, thatās not always the lowest price.
In fact, the exact flight I referenced earlier only costs 3,389 points.
As the headline of this section implies, youāll need to act fast to secure these prices. Here is the fine print you need to know about:
Book your flights by TODAY
Sale prices are reflected in the search results (no promo code)
Valid for travel from August 6 through December 18, 2024
There are a handful of blackout dates (see them all on the sale page)
Okay, onto part twoā¦ HAWAII š
Southwest is also offering a 40% discount on flights between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii.
This side of the sale has some fine print, too, of course:
You must also book your flights by TODAY
Valid for travel between August 13 and December 17, 2024
You must use promo code HAWAII40 in the search
There are different blackout dates from the other offer (see them all here)
This one is a bit weirdā¦ While the search results reflect a large number of flights with the 40% discount applied, there are also many flights without the discount appliedā¦ and theyāre cheaper.
Still, if the discounted rates are the cheapest on dates where you want to fly, this is obviously an incredible deal.
And best of all, it applies to award flights as well. š
For example, there are tons of flights between Bay Area airports and Kauai for under 10,000 Southwest points each way, which is not bad at all.
Overall, this is a great duo of sales.
Since Southwest has fairly flexible booking and rescheduling policies, you can pull the trigger on some of these flights today, even if you arenāt 100% certain about your travel plans.
If you recently signed up for a card that earns [[ chase-sapphire-reserve.points-program-override.points-currency ]] points (which transfer to Southwest) or one of Southwestās current EPIC card offers, these two sales are excellent ways to use those points.
šØ Wooh! Hyatt has another great promo
Iām a very happy boy today, my friends.
Hyatt is back with ANOTHER promotion that applies to everyone in the world and will help you rack up a boatload of extra points on very common Hyatt brands.
Here is the deal:
For the next few months, you can earn DOUBLE points on stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties.
Here are the other relevant deets:
You must register for the offer by September 15th
Valid for cash stays between July 9th and October 15th
There is a maximum of 25,000 bonus points you can earn
Only the base points will be doubled (not the elite bonus)
To clarify that last point, this means that the ādouble pointsā apply to the normal 5x base points that all members earn.
As a Globalist, I get an extra 30% bonus points on stays. With this promo, Iāll earn a total of 11.5x points since my 30% bonus only applies to the five base points.
Still, thatās a LOT of potential Hyatt points.
Whatās nice here is that the sale applies to Hyattās budget brands, so they arenāt asking us to spend a ton of money to take advantage of the deal.
For example, I recently stayed at this Hyatt Place (though it is far more luxurious than your average Hyatt Place) last month, which only costs $47 per night.
But you donāt need to travel to obscure Asian islands to find low Hyatt pricesā¦
If youāre doing a road trip across the U.S., Hyatt Place is a great brand to take a quick pit stop in along your journey, like this one in Topeka for around $87 per night. š
Doubling a base rate of five points per dollar doesnāt sound like a lotā¦ but Hyatt points are more valuable than normal points, so itās actually a lot.
If you use a card like the [[ chase-sapphire-reserve.name ]] which earns 3x on travel, youāll add even more points to your winnings.
So hereās the bottom line:
Hyatt rocks. I love you, Hyatt. Keep the deals coming. Enough said.
š¤ Get bonus Hilton points for Delta flights
This is a quick and (sort of) fun oneā¦ Until July 19th, you can earn up to 6,000 Hilton Honors bonus points when you book premium flights with Delta š
Here are the must-know deets:
You need to register for the promo before booking a future flight
Hilton members will earn 1,000 bonus points per one-way flight (in Comfort+, First Class, Delta Premium Select, or Delta One cabins)
You must book by July 19th for flights between now and September 19th, 2024
Now, is 1,000 bonus points something to chase after? It depends.
I wouldnāt go out of my way for this promo, but if it happens to work in your favor (e.g. youāre already planning on booking some premium Delta flights), then yeah, go for it!
As long as you have a Delta account and a Hilton accountā¦ you might as well!
The fine print here says that you can take advantage of this promo up to six times, which is where the possibility of 6,000 bonus points comes from.
But wow, six Delta flights in just the next few months? Thatās a stretchā¦ but maybe some of you are actually crazier than I am when it comes to flying habitsā¦ š
Also, you may or may not remember a similar, reciprocal promo between Delta and Hilton from a few months ago where Delta members could earn bonus miles for Hilton staysā¦
Iād be curious to know if a bigger and better partnership is in the works between these two, but only time will tell. š
So the bottom line here is that a few thousand Hilton points arenāt life-changing, but itās still a nice way to add to your overall pool of points to put toward a future award redemption.
Thatās all for today, folks! I hope you enjoyed these offers from Southwest, Hyatt, and Delta/Hilton.
Which offer do you think is best? |
Take care, and see you tomorrow ā¤ļø
