🏨 Buy hotel points with a 100% bonus

Buying points is usually a gamble.

But IHG One Rewards is one of the few programs where you can consistently come out ahead here — especially if you pair it with the 4th night free perk from its co-branded card (arguably my favorite card, period).

Plus, right now there’s a 100% bonus on purchased points. 👇

Here’s why this sale is worth a look:

• Bonus: 100% (buy at half a cent each)

• Limit: Up to 200,000 points (before bonus, so 400,000 after — though some members may be targeted with different limits)

Now let’s run the math:

Example #1: Kyoto, Japan

This brand-new Garner hotel in Kyoto will sell for about $110 a night when it opens a month from today. Not bad.

But with the 4th-night-free perk, you’ll pay just 11,250 points per night on a four-night stay.

To buy enough points with this sale, that’s $56 per night — basically slicing the already reasonable cost in half.

Example 2: Philadelphia, USA

The Kimpton Palomar in Philly runs around $350 a night after tax. With points, you’re looking at nearly 50,000 per night.

That means you could buy points for $250 a night — saving $400+ on a four-night stay.

Whether you’re chasing budget-friendly city breaks or luxury stays, this is one of those rare times when buying points is a slam dunk. ⚾️

✈️ Transfer miles to Copa Airlines with a 40% bonus

In case you missed it earlier this month, Rove Miles launched a new, very intriguing transfer partner:

Copa Airlines.

Many of you probably know of Copa, the Panamanian airline that connects many cities in the U.S. to Central and South America.

I’ve flown them a handful of times using United Miles and Aeroplan points, often for great value.

But here’s the thing:

Finding Copa availability through partner programs has been tough. I can’t find ANYTHING through Aeroplan anymore, which is annoying.

So it’s exciting to see that we now have a way (via Rove) to book Copa flights with points.

Copa has long-haul lie-flat business class

If you weren’t aware, you can fly in a lie-flat seat on Copa’s newer 737 aircraft, which is a great way to enjoy long hops to South America.

For example, this 6.5-hour flight from Panama to Santiago, Chile costs as few as 40,000 Copa miles in business class.

But here’s the kicker…

For the next week, Rove is still offering a 40% transfer bonus to Copa. So that flight I just showed you only requires transferring 29,000 Rove miles.

Book domestic flights with Copa miles

If you’re a United fan, you might be surprised to hear that Copa often charges fewer miles on United flights than United itself.

Check out this flight from San Francisco to Newark in United Polaris business class, which costs 55,000 Copa miles:

That’s a lot for a domestic flight…

But with the 40% bonus from Rove, that’s just 40,000 Rove Miles transferred. Plus, look at what United is charging for the same flight on the same day:

And that’s another fun quirk of Copa: They have enhanced access to United award flights.

It won’t always be cheap, but there is more availability – and often at lower prices than using United miles.

Book Emirates on the cheap

Copa also has access to Emirates award space without the hefty cash surcharges that Emirates itself charges on flights.

You could fly from the U.S. to the Middle East on Emirates for just 80,000 Copa miles in business class, or just 58,000 Rove Miles with this transfer bonus.

The key word there is “could.”

There is literally no availability on those routes at that price point (at least not that I could find). So it’s cool in theory, but pointless if you can’t actually book it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

In summary

Look, I love Rove Miles.

They’ve got all the basic partners (Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios, Virgin Atlantic) and some other REALLY valuable partners (Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, Accor).

I’ve told you many times about how you can rack up Rove Miles by booking hotels and then redeeming them with transfer partners. And if you need a Rove 101, I also wrote an in-depth guide to the entire program.

But this time, Copa feels pretty underwhelming as a new partner. If there’s a very specific redemption that works out for you, great.

Otherwise, I’d sit patiently and wait for Rove to add Singapore, Emirates, or something else spicy. 🌶️
