Good morning from Indonesia – where the holiday spirit is alive and well indoors… and then you go outside, and the monsoon humbles you immediately.

I’ve got some early Christmas presents for you:

💳 The ultimate power couple

We just published a quick article breaking down one of the smartest two-card setups in the Capital One ecosystem: pairing the [[ capital-one-venture-x-rewards-credit-card.name ]] with the [[ capital-one-savorone-cash-rewards-credit-card.name ]].

At a high level, it’s simple:

But the real magic is how they work together:

You can move the cash back you earn on the [[ capital-one-savorone-cash-rewards-credit-card.casual-card-name ]] into your [[ capital-one-venture-x-rewards-credit-card.casual-card-name ]] account, turning it into miles that can be redeemed for travel or transferred to airline and hotel partners.

In the article, we walk through:

  • Why this combo works so well

  • How each card earns on different types of spend

  • A realistic example of what the rewards look like when you use both

  • And the best order to apply if you’re starting from scratch

If you’re already in the Capital One ecosystem (or thinking about it), this is one of those setups that’s way more powerful than it looks at first glance.

✈️ 30% award sale on Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines is running a 30% discount on award flights between Istanbul and more than 180 cities worldwide.

Turkish 30% award sale

That includes a bunch of U.S. routes, which means this is a pretty clean, no-nonsense way to fly nonstop to Istanbul for fewer miles than usual.

The list of U.S. cities includes Atlanta, Detroit, Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

So yeah… a lot.

There are some rules, but nothing too crazy:

  • Economy flights only (😭)

  • Book by December 22

  • Travel between January 14 and May 15

  • Use promo code MILES30 to get the discount

  • There are some blackout dates in late March and early April

So what does this look like in real life?

Normally, a one-way economy award from the U.S. to Istanbul runs 40,000 Turkish miles – even longer flights like this one from Dallas:

Dallas to Istanbul for 40,000 miles

With the 30% discount, that drops to 28,000 miles, which is honestly a pretty solid deal for a long nonstop flight on a full-service airline.

💡 If you’re confused about where to enter the promo code, you’ll need to search for your flight first, then start the checkout process where you’ll see a spot to enter the code and get the discount.

So, this is a slam dunk deal, right?

WRONG. ❌

You see, most of these same cities also overlap with Flying Blue’s December Promo Rewards, which let you get to Europe (including Istanbul) for 18,750 miles in economy.

That even includes West Coast cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, so yes – Flying Blue is cheaper if you’re just looking at the mileage number.

That said, the Turkish deal still has a few things going for it:

  1. Availability seems great (while Flying Blue is hit or miss)

  2. Lower taxes and fees, which can be meaningful

  3. If you value the convenience of a nonstop, it might be worth the extra miles

If your dates line up and Flying Blue space isn’t cooperating, locking in a nonstop to Istanbul for 28,000 miles with reasonable fees is a perfectly respectable move.

And since Turkish miles are easy to earn, this one’s pretty accessible. You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio from:

Oh, and now let’s talk about that last program.👇

🏨 Rove Miles holiday points bonuses

As I just told you, one of the ways you can rack up Turkish miles is to transfer them from Rove Miles.

Thankfully, Rove just dropped a limited-time deal to rack up thousands of extra miles this week only.

Here are the three components:

1. 40% bonus on Loyalty Eligible bookings

As I’ve talked about in the past, Rove allows you to book hotels at major chains and earn both Rove Miles AND hotel points.

Loyalty Eligible Bookings through Rove

Since you can transfer Rove Miles to various airlines and hotels, there’s a lot to gain from doing this.

For example, you could book this Marriott Bonvoy hotel in San Diego that costs around $200 per night and earn 7x Rove Miles, or around 1,500 miles per night.

On top of that, you can use a Marriott co-branded card to pay for it and earn credit card points, Marriott points from being a member, elite night credit, and any other elite bonuses or promotional offers.

💡 Quick Tip: Make sure you compare Rove’s pricing with the hotel’s own pricing. Sometimes it’s almost the same, and sometimes it can be inflated a bit (which cancels out the value from those extra miles).

2. Special bonus for Daily Drop readers only

This is where things get fun…

Rove has a promo code for first-time hotel bookings specifically for Daily Drop readers.

This applies to ANY hotel booked through Rove, not just loyalty-eligible ones like I told you about earlier.

Here are the codes and bonuses:

  • Spend $500, earn 3,500 bonus miles with code DAILYDROP500

  • Spend $1,000, earn 6,000 bonus miles with code DAILYDROP1000

Keep in mind – this is on top of the earnings you already get from Rove, which can be substantial.

For example, let’s say you want to head to Scotland in the new year.

You could book this highly-rated hotel in downtown Glasgow through Rove for $171 per night, including all taxes:

Earn 20x miles on this Glasgow hotel

Earn 20x miles on this Glasgow hotel

A 3-night stay here would run you $513 and earn the following points:

  • 10,266 Rove miles from the purchase

  • 3,500 bonus miles from using the promo code

But this also stacks with Rove’s new member bonus of 1,000 miles after signing up with this link AND any credit card points you’ll earn from the purchase.

In total, you’ll spend $513 and walk away with around 15,000 Rove miles.

You can transfer those to Air India and book domestic flights on United Airlines for as few as 3,500 points each:

Domestic United flight for 3,500 Air India points

Domestic United flight for 3,500 Air India points

Or you could transfer them to Etihad and book American Airlines and JetBlue flights for just 6,000 miles each:

Domestic AA and JetBlue flights for 6,000 Etihad miles

Domestic AA and JetBlue flights for 6,000 Etihad miles

The point is – that’s a fantastic return on your spend.

3. Elevated earnings at select stores

Rove also pays out miles when you shop through its portal at various merchants.

Many of those are now offering bonus miles, including tons of travel-related merchants and even gift card purchases.

Now for the fine print:

  • You can only use one promo code per customer

  • These deals are all only valid through 11:59pm EST on December 19

Anyway, if you have hotel plans to make for 2026, it might be worth locking them in now to get those extra transferrable points with Rove!

Today marks the first day of Hanukkah — the season of light, warmth, and consuming heroic amounts of fried potatoes. And while I fully support indulging in holiday treats, I also know that this time of year, it’s extra important to take care of yourself.
