✈️ 40% transfer bonus to Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines is currently running a 40% transfer bonus from ThankYou points through August 31.

The bonus is offered on the Turkish side, and you can read all the details on their site. 👇

Now, a quick history lesson…

Turkish "revamped" its award chart a couple of years ago – and I'm using "revamped" the way a demolition crew “revamps” a building.

Most of the sweet spots didn’t survive… but a few did.

And with a 40% bonus on the table, they become really good deals.

Business class to Istanbul

You can fly from any U.S. city to Istanbul in Turkish business class for 65,000 miles.

And that applies to all U.S. cities that Turkish flies to.

That's a decent deal from the East Coast, and a great one from somewhere like Dallas, where you're looking at nearly 12 hours in the air.

With the 40% bonus, that ticket works out to roughly 46,500 ThankYou points.

For 12 hours in a lie-flat seat, that's fantastic.

And Turkish business class is a consistently great experience, especially in their newer seats, which they fly on many U.S. routes.

And Istanbul is just the beginning

Turkish serves more destinations than any airline in the world.

So whatever far-flung place has been sitting on your list, there's a decent chance Turkish flies there through Istanbul. So even when the points price isn’t the best, sometimes Turkish is the only option from A to B.

Book United flights with Turkish miles

You can also use Turkish miles to book domestic flights on United.

Normally, I wouldn't bring this up, because it's not a great deal. But a 40% bonus makes this potentially worth considering.

Here's the award chart for domestic U.S. flights (using Turkish miles). As you can see, they charge higher rates for anything touching Hawaii. 👇

A one-way domestic economy flight is 15,000 miles, which comes out to just under 11,000 ThankYou points with the bonus.

On a longer route like Newark to Los Angeles, that can be a lot cheaper than booking directly through United, which charges around 30,000 miles for the same flight.

The caveat is that United releases almost no award availability to Turkish. So this might be a good deal in theory, but good luck actually finding seats. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Anyway, there are two final pieces of fine print for this deal:

• The 40% bonus miles will post AFTER the promo period ends on August 31… so be careful with that.

• You can only get a maximum of 50,000 bonus miles (which means you can transfer up to 125,000 ThankYou points and still get 40% more).

The bottom line

Turkish miles aren't what they used to be.

But if you're flying Turkish itself, there are still real deals hiding in there, and a 40% bonus turns the best of them into no-brainers.
